Introduction
SafeBowl (“we”, “our”, “the app”) is a dog food safety scanner that uses AI to identify whether foods, plants, and ingredients are safe for your dog. This privacy policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your rights.

Data We Do NOT Collect
- No email address, phone number, or real name
- No advertising identifier (IDFA)
- No cross-app tracking
- No browsing history
- No contacts, calendar, or health data
- No microphone or Bluetooth access
- No analytics or telemetry
How Your Data Is Used
- Safety scanning: Photos you scan are sent to our server, which proxies them to Claude AI for analysis. Images are not stored after the response is returned.
- Device authentication: Your device vendor UUID is used to create an anonymous account. No personal information is linked to it.
- Emergency vet locator: Your approximate location is used on-device via Apple Maps to find nearby emergency vets. Location data is not sent to our servers.
- Subscriptions: Managed via Apple StoreKit and RevenueCat. We do not see or store your payment details.
- Local features: Search, pet profiles, health logs, and incident tracking all run entirely on your device.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
Data Storage and Security
- All pet data is stored on-device via SwiftData.
- Authentication tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain.
- All network communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- We do not maintain a user database. There is no server-side account to hack or breach.
Data Retention
- On-device data persists until you delete the app or clear its data.
- Scanned images are not stored on our servers after processing.
- JWT authentication tokens expire and are refreshed automatically.
Your Rights
- Delete your data: Delete the app to remove all on-device data. No server-side data exists to delete.
- Opt out: You can deny camera, location, or photo library permissions at any time via iOS Settings.
Legal Basis
We process data under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Our legal basis for processing is legitimate interest: providing the core functionality of the app (safety scanning, emergency vet locator, and subscription management).
Children's Privacy
SafeBowl is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will notify you via an in-app notice before the changes take effect.
